I activated my overhead lights and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Bridge and 2nd St. Upon approach, I made contact with driver Heather Thorton. Heather was issued citation#53303 for Texting While Driving, she was provided with her copy and advised of 07/12/2024 9:00 AM court date.

Narrative: While conducting stationary speed enforcement using handheld LIDAR #164, in the area of S Bridge Street/Southern Ave, I observed a black Hyundai traveling southbound on S Bridge Street towards my patrol vehicle at an estimated speed greater than the posted 50mph speed limit. I first checked the vehicle’s speed at 69mph. I checked the vehicle’s speed again at 69mph. The LIDAR emitted a tone which indicated a good targeted speed reading, and that speed was locked in at 690.7ft. The driver was stopped, cited, and released.

I first checked the vehicle’s speed at 90mph. I checked the vehicle’s speed again at 90mph. The LIDAR emitted a tone which indicated a good targeted speed reading. The driver was stopped, cited, and released. The LIDAR tested normal at 174.9.0ft on 07/02/2024 at 3:48 PM.

I activated my overhead lights and initiated a traffic stop with Oh Reg S170944. Upon approach, made contact with driver identified as Dakota Jones. Dakota stated he was on the phone with Family Dollar due to them finding his wallet. Upon checking Dakota’s SSN through LEADS, he was found to be under a non-compliance suspension.
