Oregon vs. UCLA: Final score, highlights from Week 5 game (2025)

Behind a dominant defensive performance, the No. 7 Oregon football team defeated UCLA in its first-ever Big Ten Conference game, 34-13, Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

The Ducks (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) held the Bruins (1-3, 0-2 Big Ten) to 172 total yards, didn't allow an offensive touchdown and had four sacks in the dominant win. Defensive end Jordan Burch led the Ducks with a pair of tackles for loss, including a sack.

On the offensive end, the Ducks got off to a hot start, scoring on their first four drives to build a healthy lead they would never relinquish. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 31 of his 41 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns, but tossed his first interception of the season to former Duck and Bruins defensive back Bryan Addison, who took the pick to the house for UCLA's only touchdown of the night at the end of the first half.

Jordan James ran for 103 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown and Tez Johnson caught 11 passes for 121 yards and two scores in Oregon's victory.

The Ducks will return home Friday against Michigan State for their next game.

Oregon vs UCLA score updates

FINAL: Oregon 34, UCLA 13

The Ducks held on after their fourth-quarter score to beat the Bruins, 34-13, Saturday night. Oregon held the Bruins without an offensive touchdown and Jordan James rushed for over 100 yards in the win.

UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers goes down with injury

After taking a big hit on a pass attempt, Bruins starting quarterback Ethan Garbers left the game and backup Justyn Martin replaced him as UCLA's quarterback. The Ducks still lead, 34-13 with 8:21 left in the fourth.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel found Tez Johnson for a 12-yard touchdown to cap an 11-play, 61-yard drive for the Ducks with 9:37 left in the fourth quarter. Now leading 34-13, Oregon's victory is all but sealed.

End of third quarter: Oregon 28, UCLA 13

Oregon's Tysheem Johnson made a diving interception of a tipped pass on the final play of the quarter to give the Ducks possession at their own 39 when play resumes.

Oregon's offense in a slump

The Ducks have struggled to get anything going on offense in the second half. They've run nine plays for 27 yards in their two possessions since halftime. This coming after they scored on their first five drives of the game.

Mateen Bhaghani kicked a 54-yard field for the Bruins with 7:34 to play in the third quarter.

TE Terrance Ferguson won't play again tonight

Oregon informed FOX that its starting tight end is out for the rest of the game with a head injury. Ferguson was hurt late in the first half on a collision with UCLA safety Bryan Addison and was immediately taken to the locker room. Ferguson had one catch for 18 yards in the game when he was hurt.

The Ducks dominated the first half right up to the Bruins' pick-six in the final seconds.

Dillon Gabriel has completed 22 of 28 passes for 228 yards, two TDs and the one interception.

The Oregon defense has held the UCLA offense to 54 total yards.

Bryan Addison intercepted a pass by Oregon's Dillon Gabriel and returned it 96 yards for the touchdown as the Bruins got into the end zone for the first time with 5 seconds left in the first half. Gabriel scrambled out of the pocket on the play and threw towards Tez Johnson, who fell down as the pass arrived right to Addison.

Atticus Sappington kicked his second field goal of the game, a 42-yarder with 2:24 to play in the first half.

Oregon's Terrance Ferguson dazed by hit

The Ducks' star tight end collided with UCLA safety Bryan Addison on a pass across the middle near the Bruins' end zone. Ferguson stayed on the ground for a few seconds then stood on his own. He was walked off the field by training staff and then taken to the locker room. Addison, a former Duck, appeared to flex over Ferguson when he was on the ground, which didn't go over well with some of Oregon's players.

The expected blowout is in progress. Dillon Gabriel threw a 52-yard TD pass to Tez Johnson and Kenyon Sadiq threw a pass to Terrance Ferguson for the 2-point conversion as the Ducks go up by 22 with 9:11 to play before halftime.

Jordan Burch beginning to dominate

The Oregon defensive end had back-to-back plays where he dropped running back T.J. Harden for a 5-yard loss and then sacked QB Ethan Garbers for a 5-yard loss. Facing third-and-20, the Bruins ended up punting.

Jordan James rushed for a 2-yard TD with 11:53 to play in the first half, capping a short drive by the Ducks that began at the Bruins' 23-yard line following Bryce Boettcher's interception.

The Oregon linebacker made a diving pick at the Bruins 23-yard line, giving the ball back to the Ducks' offense deep in UCLA territory at the 14:18 mark of the second quarter. It was Boettcher's first career interception.

Atticus Sappington kicked a 41-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter to increase the Ducks' lead. The drive included a missed touchdown when Tez Johnson overthrew a wide open tight end Patrick Herbert in the end zone on a trick play from UCLA's 29.

The Ducks have the ball at the Bruins' 23 facing a fourth-and-4 when play resumes.

The Bruins' opening drive stalled at the Ducks' 9-yard line and Mateen Bhaghani kicked a 27-yard field goal at the 2:35 mark of the first quarter to get UCLA on the scoreboard. The drive went 66 yards on 12 plays and took a whopping 7:04 off the clock.

The Ducks took the opening drive 75 yards on 12 plays with QB Dillon Gabriel connecting with WR Traeshon Holden for a 12-yard touchdown at the 9:39 mark. Gabriel was 7-of-8 passing for 59 yards on the drive and Jordan James had four carries for 21 yards.

The Bruins won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. Kickoff is moments away.

Oregon's captains on Saturday will be right tackle Ajani Cornelius, tight end Terrance Ferguson, defensive tackle Keyon Ware-Hudson and defensive back Nikko Reed.

Oregon opens Big Ten play against an old Pac-12 foe

The bye week is over. The Big Ten season is just about to begin.

TheNo. 7 Oregon football teamreturns to the field on Saturday for the first time since a resounding victory against rival Oregon State on Sept. 14.

In an odd bit of scheduling for theDucks(3-0), their conference debut will come against a very familiar foe in, a team they will be playing for the 73rd time.

The Bruins also switched allegiances from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten following the end of the last season.

"Definitely is weird," senior defensive tackle Keyon Ware-Hudson said. "This feels like any other Pac-12 game."

Matthew Bedford, Gary Bryant Jr. won't play against UCLA

The Ducks had eight players list as out for the game against UCLA when the mandatory Big Ten availability report was released Saturday evening.

Among them were offensive lineman Matthew Bedford and wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. After missing nearly all of the season, Bedford was dinged up in during bye-week practices. Bryant hasn't played this season.

Also out are defensive backs Jahlil Florence, Dakoda Fields and Zach Grisham, offensive lineman Dave Iuli, defensive lineman My’Keil Gardner and kicker Andrew Boyle.

There were no Ducks listed as questionable.
